Did I say Pumpkin Dessert Smoothie? Yup I did!
Today was a lazy kind of day for the entire family. It’s still warm outside but not crazy hot anymore for which I am happy. The little monster has croup yet again so trying to keep him from running too much always proves interesting. Today he helped me with a sewing project for his Toothless the dragon from build a bear. We made Toothless a pair of pants with flying bats on them. I will be posting exactly how I did that very soon!
Dinner was even kind of lazy with my husband making home made bread which meant all I had to do was make something to go with it. My contribution to dinner was beans and rice. The littles loved the bread and pretended like the beans and rice did not exist as usual. That is okay, they will have the beans as tacos soon. After dinner I wanted a sweet something. I have been eating way too much chocolate lately and thought I should get going on creating something with pumpkin in it. It is September and if you believe the stores it’s already Halloween because all the decorations are already out. With it still being somewhat warm outside I thought a pumpkin smoothie with maple syrup would be perfect.
I used a small personal blender but a full sized one would be even better.
Into the blender put 3 tablespoons of heavy whipping cream and 2 tablespoons of real maple syrup. Blend those together until it looks like whipped topping. (If you are using a regular sized blender it would be easier to put everything in at once and blend.)
Now put 3 tablespoons of canned pumpkin (not pie filling but real pumpkin), 1 cup of milk, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon and ice. I put probably a total of 20 ice cubes. You can start out with less ice and add more as needed. Blend until the ice is completely crushed up. If you put in less than I did, check the thickness and add more as desired.
This smoothie was wonderful. It has a very strong pumpkin flavor and tasted more like pumpkin cream, you know when you take a bite of pumpkin pie with whipped cream on top, that flavor but in a cup. I drank every last drop, oh except for the part I shared with my little monster. Tomorrow I will be making another pumpkin dessert to share with you.
