This week has been pretty boring in the house. All kid birthdays are over until September, it’s been raining every day for a week so no pool time, it’s too hot to do much outside at all without dying from the heat, so we have been just hanging out watching too much television! I have been honestly enjoying the downtime. Leading up to our trip was crazy because of all the things we needed to do in preparation for going out of town for 2 weeks. Coming home there’s all the laundry and putting away of clothes along with attempting to get back some semblance of normalcy in our daily routine. (My suitcase is still laying on the floor of my closet).
The little monster has definitely had a hard time adjusting to all the changes going on. I’ve tried to simplify even what he eats so that he doesn’t feel like there are too many things changing all at once, he has a hard time with that. For instance, just when he got used to Target having certain toys on certain aisles they decided it was time to change things around. He got so upset he had to cover his ears while we figured out where things were. Sounds strange I know but it seems we are seeing some sensory issues we hadn’t been seeing before and this was one I didn’t even think about until it happened! We weren’t buying anything, just checking out new toys and seeing what was on sale. It didn’t seem to matter. When we were done there we trekked over to the grocery section and guess what? Everything had been moved there too! Hands back on ears while he scanned the aisles looking for the cereal and bread. Needless to say getting groceries this week proved interesting. I was able to get what we needed without a melt down for either of us so I consider that a victory.

Meal #1 Wild caught salmon from Aldi, brussels sprouts, and rice
Meal #2 Chicken tacos with lettuce, tomatoes, guacamole, and blue corn tortilla chips
Meal #3 Chicken and Rice with sauteed broccoli
Meal #4 Uncured sausage from Aldi in hotdog buns with baked beans and brussels sprouts
Meal #5 Tomato basil sausage, sauteed green peppers, and pan fried potatoes
Meal #6 Grilled cheese, sliced apples, and cranberry sauce (odd combination but we are using what we have in the pantry here!)
Meal #7 Scrambled eggs and pancakes
Meal #8 Leftovers
